FINDING MUSHROOMS GUIDE:
Important to note: All times expressed here will be based off of you having a Dragon Griffin and 50% time reductions.
How it works:
Finding Mushrooms will obviously offer you an advantage in extra thirst and/or Purchasing Mounts or Items. So finding as many as possible is a better edge. Be aware this guide will take you off of the EXP guide that Charista posted on the forums. Hence it may slow down your leveling up a bit.
[Writer's Note: I usually follow Charista's EXP Guide as it is very well written and wholly comprehensive and it Frikin WORKS!]
Your Mount will determine what percent your native will be, the Better your Mount (time on quest decrease) the lower your % to find. Griffins-6%, Cat/Dragon- 7%, Horse/Dog-8%, cow/pig-9% No Mount at all still 9% (9.125%) But this does not mean you will find mushroom on 9% of ALL your quests it is just a 9% CHANCE. All of these are approximates and based off of what I could find on forums. To increase the "chance" possibilities follow this...
Basic Tips to finding more mushrooms on quests:
~Easiest way to start is to ONLY take the shortest quests, this is simple math: more Quests more Chances duh!
~Next way is to look for modifiers, those things that programmers put in to help increase random nature odds so you can honestly average it at 6-9%. Look for key words like:
"Unique, Special, Plant, Garden, Only, and other words that denote a "special" attribute to the monster you are fighting at quest end.
~Certain Monsters will also increase your chances BUT it is not always easy to figure out which creature will appear. READ THE DESCRIPTION of the quest. Plant and Water Based creatures increase it a bit as they will be associated with Mushrooms. I have found that Rabbits, Demons, Wizards and Ghosts DO NOT offer Mushrooms very often. Where as Trolls, that damn baby elephant, Insects, and other Earth based creatures offer them more often.
~This is the MEAT for finding Mushrooms: Timing and gold/exp modifiers for quests.
- Time Modifiers: Shorter Quests obviously offer more chances BUT the shortest quests offer the most, within that they usually contain more of the high end modifiers. With this in mind look also for how time off quests change with exp or gold attached.
~Exp/Gold vs Time spent. Usually when you are questing it is a GOOD idea to take the most exp per minute of Quest time spent. BUT if you look at how the exp or gold is distributed between quests you will notice a pattern of losses in either gold or exp.
~Pattern of Losses explained: Let's say for example you are down to the last 2:30 of your thirst you will usually get 3 2:30 quests for your final run (until you mushroom for more thirst) Of those 3 last quests they will differ slightly between to give you a choice of what you want to quest for.
EXAMPLE: your 3 quests look like this -
2:30 - 2000 gold and 3500 exp
2:30 - 1500 gold and 4000 exp
2:30 - 500 gold and 5000 exp
They all average at 5500 total exp/gold just distributed differently.
Which one would you choose ? The Median! Take the quest with the median (middle) amount of Gold and exp. This shoots your 6% chance up by as much as 50% and any creature modifiers or wording will = 6% * 50% + Modifiers of 20% / minute spent (can possibly) = 36% chance so 1/3 chances. Seems that is your choice anyways, 1 out of the 3 available, BUT this way offers a near guarantee of 1 in 3 instead of 36% chance.
~Along with this you will find quests tat time out the same but differ in total exp/gold
EXAMPLE:
You are questing normally and find these 3 quests:
2:30 - 2500 Gold and 5000 exp
5:00 - 2700 Gold and 9000 exp
2:30 - 2000 Gold and 5000 exp
Choice seems obvious the 2:30 with 2500 gold and 5000 exp .....WRONG!
Take the LOSS and take the 2:30 with 2000 gold and 5000 exp. Reasoning is thus...If you take a loss of gold (or exp) when 2 same time (2:30 example) but differ in either gold or exp (on both of them 1 of the 2 types [gold or exp] is different) the game offers up a "reward" by increasing your Random nature in Mushroom % chance.
Lay-mans Terms: Take a loss between 2 same time quests you get a better chance.
I have found a few other smaller Modifiers but until I have tested them thoroughly I won't include them.
Take 1 days worth of quests and try this out. See if you get more then normal. I bet 90% of you will double your mushrooms/week found.
Best of Luck in the Game and as always I wish you:
Good Hunting!
